NICview© System
This past year, a generous donation by Xerox Corporation funded a 6 camera pilot project in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at UMass Memorial. The state-of-the-art bedside video cameras allowed for families to view their infant(s) over a secure wireless internet connection. Our experiences during the pilot project were incredible and well received by families. The pilot project and a patient story was profiled in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, with companion pieces on CNN.com and ABCnews.com.
The NICview© System (www.nicview.net), is a secure web-based camera which streams live video of the hospitalized infant to families via a password-protected internet portal. The streaming video can be viewed remotely by any family member with internet access via a computer, laptop, tablet or web enabled phone.
The overwhelming positive response from our NICU families during the pilot project led us to the belief that every infant and family should have access to this technology. Our goal for this year's Tee Up for Tots Golf Tournament is raise enough funds to purchase 45 additional cameras.
